Hooman Foroughmand Araabi, is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at the University of West England, Bristol, Faculty of Environment and Technology, He got his bachelors degree In Urbanism from Tehran University, and his Master of Urban Design from Azad University of Tehran.
The reviewed text is his article “Minding the gap: the professionals’ view on the interaction between urban design theory and practice”, as published in Town Planning Review, Volume 89, Issue 3, 2018.
In the article Araabi seeks to understand the relationship between the theory and the actual practice of urban design, through identifying and analyzing the key factors that are involved in generating new theories and practices. The gap between theory and practice in urban design is then explored, followed by the ways in which a number of successful urban designers have experienced the tension between the two.
